Brwydr y Bandiau 2021

This year, after a hard year for the music industry, we’re thrilled to announce that 10 artists and bands have competed for Brwydr y Bandiau (Battle of the Bands) Here’s a little more about them…

 

Cai
Cai is the name of Osian Cai’s band. He’s from Dyffryn Nantlle and after playing for a number of bands, he’s now decided to start composing and working on his own music.

Tiger Bay
Tiger Bay is Cai, Conor, Bobo, Joe a Jackson from Cardiff and they all enjoy watching live bands around different venues in the capital city. Their love for live music is one of the main reasons for starting a band.

Tesni Hughes
Tesni Hughes lives in Llangefni and attends Ysgol David Hughes. She enjoys the process of writing songs and she hopes to release an album in the future.

Iestyn Gwyn Jones
Iestyn Gwyn Jones lives in Cardiff and he enjoys creating and composing music. He plays with his band, Dan Jones and Sam Davies. He enjoys a vast range of music which includes bands like Yr Eira, Yws Gwynnedd and Candelas.

Rhys Owen
Rhys Owen is originally from Mold and he studies at the University of Swansea. He loves playing rhe guitar and describes his music as acoustic pop.

skylrk
skylrk is the persona of artist Hedydd Ioan from Dyffryn Nantlle. He enjoys bringing music and stories together and this is the main source of inspiration for his work.

Dafydd Hedd
Dafydd Hedd is from Bethesda and he’s been creating music for some years now. One of his aims is to co-work with different artists in the music scene in Wales.

Gofodwyr ar Goll
Gofodwyr ar Goll is Ewan, Tom a Dom from Cardiff and they attend Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf. Mae’n nhw i gyd yn mwynhau gwrando ar gerddoriaeth ac yn mwynhau dod at ei gilydd i ‘sgwennu.

Band Mabon, Dylan, Rhys, Owen a Ieuan (no name for the band yet)
These boys live in Cardiff and they all attend Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr. They listen to a range of different music and some of their main musical influences include bands like Oasis, Big Leaves and Ffa Coffi Pawb.

Lucy Jenkins
Lucy Jenkins is a student at Aberystwyth University. She’s been composing and teaching herself how to produce since she was 14 years old and she describes her music as a mix of folk-rock and folk-metal.
