Creator of ‘Gwrachod Heddiw’ podcast – Mari Elen – shares a piece of poetry with us

Mari Elen is a Playwright, Theatr-Maker, Artist and podcast Creator (#GwrachodHeddiw) who lives in North Wales with her partner and sons. She likes witches, cups of tea and Beyonce.

“I love people and learning more about them. The world would be a better place if people were to listen and learn from each others stories and experiences. Stories inspire me, and are a catalyst to begin creating. Usually, my work focuses on female stories and explores the idea of ‘Welshness’. I mostly write scripts, but I also benefit greatly from performing, writing poetry and learning more about witches.”

Clywch sgrech merch sy’n methu
dal fyny hefo’ch disgwyliadau ohoni,
I garu, gofalu a magu,
Deffro pob bore a gwenu. Gadewch i’r ferch weiddi,
rhegi a bodloni ar fodoli
fel hi ei hun,
yn union fel
y mae hi.
