Honey Hambley is a multi-disciplinary artist from Cardiff. Her work is diverse but, there are often consistent themes such as presence, space, production and fantasy. There is consistency in her work as she thinks of contrast or relationships that exist between the digital world and the natural world. She’s really interested in Sci Fi and the idea of alternate dimensions. More often than not, the work points to events or personal experiences of her own, these can be an experience of place, or a memory of a specific time. Movement and engineering are also present in her work, especially within her sculptures and installations, she likes to think that a piece of art has energy.

Honey is part of the ‘Lone Worlds’ group, a community of people from South Wales who create opportunities to connect as a creative community. She studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths College in London.

The inspiration for the ‘pano’ image came from seeing an accidental picture on her mobile phone, it was a picture of her bedroom, but from a completely different angle to how she ususually sees her room. She really liked the fact that most accidental pictures get deleted, and so she decided not to, and to give time to something that is usually ignored. You can see details like the pixel and black frame which emphasises the digital aspect. Her art usually consists of recording and research into places (of insignificance) that get forgotten. She tries to re-discover these hidden places through art that emphasises them in a magical, other-worldly way. Recently, Honey’s restarted painting – a natural move to her following the pandemic period where we had to slow down.
